Olson & Lucas, P.A. is a law firm practicing primarily in the areas of real estate, employment, construction and business law, with attorneys licensed to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana. The firm's core business clients include real estate investors and developers, real estate brokers, real estate property managers, mortgage lenders, title insurers, appraisers, banks, general contractors, construction managers, construction subcontractors and suppliers; and individuals involved in real estate and business transactions.

The firm also counsels a variety of other business concerns including business brokers, ad agencies, telecom site owners, medical practices, franchise owners, individuals considering business and franchise opportunities, liquidation companies, and many others.

The firm advises clients regarding transactions in real estate and business and represents them in all related litigation matters.

Tom Olson

Thomas OlsonTom Olson has been in practice for 25 years practicing primarily in the area of litigation and dispute resolution relating to real estate, construction and other business and commercial disputes. He regularly serves as a mediator and arbitrator of real estate and business disputes, and is a Civil Trial Specialist certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association. He has successfully tried cases and argued appeals in state and Federal court. Olson has presented at seminars for lawyers, surveyors & title insurers on various real estate matters. Tom Olson is recognized as a "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law & Politics. He is licensed to practice before the Minnesota and Wisconsin state and Federal court systems.

Scott Lucas

Scott LucasScott Lucas practices real estate and business law. He has represented clients in a broad spectrum of transaction and litigation matters, including corporate and investment real estate acquisitions, the formation of condominium and townhome Common Interest Communities, Torrens matters, title litigation, breach of contract actions, the formation of corporations and limited liability companies, eminent domain actions, easement issues, real estate contract terminations, and business purchases.

Scott is board-certified as a Real Property Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association, a designation that reflects both experience and expertise in real property law. He is licensed to practice before the state and federal courts of Minnesota and Indiana, and has spoken and published on a variety of property law and small business topics.

Scott has a broad business background - including marketing commercial real estate and assisting in the management and marketing of a title insurance agency - that helps him to better understand legal issues from his clients' perspectives. As a result, he strives to help his clients manage risk while pursuing their goals, in the realization that eliminating risk altogether can mean missing opportunities.

Scott attended law school at Valparaiso University, where he was Executive Editor of Publication for the Valparaiso University Law Review. Scott attended college at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, where he majored in Economics.

Scott lives in Shorewood, Minnesota with his wife and three daughters.

Matthew J. Pfohl

Matt PfohlMatt Pfohl practices primarily in the areas of corporate, business, franchise and employment law. He has experience as in-house General Counsel for a $220 Million closely held company with nearly 2,000 employees, and has represented several governmental entities including the St. Paul RiverCentre Authority and the City of St. Paul, Minnesota. Matt's employment law experience includes providing employment law training and seminars to employees and executives, drafting and reviewing employee handbooks, and investigating and defending state and federal discrimination and ADA claims. Matt also has significant experience as a criminal prosecutor and civil litigator and has tried over 75 court and jury trials. He has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of claims ranging from defamation and minority shareholder disputes to environmental law and personal injury cases, and has appeared in state and federal district courts as well as the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court. He began his legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Hon. Jack Davies on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Matt's current clients include the franchisor of a rapidly-growing national hotel chain, a real estate development company, a commercial general contractor, a hospitality management company, a hospitality supply company, the franchisees of hotels and restaurants located in several different states, and numerous small business owners.

Matt is a member of the Minnesota State and Hennepin County Bar Associations, he is an Adjunct Professor of Law in the Advocacy program at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has been appointed a member of the Fourth District Ethics Committee by the Hennepin County Bar Association. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame, and his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he was an Editor on the school's law review and awarded a Law Library Fellowship. He also received a Certificate in Franchise Management from the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Business.

Matt Jones

Matt JonesMatt is a seasoned civil litigator who has represented businesses, individuals, and insurance companies in courts throughout the country. He specializes in Real Estate and Business Litigation. Matt has tried numerous cases in District Court and before administrative agencies in Minnesota. He has secured a verdict in excess of $1,000,000.00 on behalf of his clients.

Matt is a member of the Minnesota and Hennepin County Bar Associations. He received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. He is a cum laude graduate from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was on the Dean's List and a member of the National Moot Court. Minnesota Law & Politics has selected him as a Rising Star.
